What is Sub-Acute Detox?

When most addicts enter treatment, the first step in the recovery process is often detoxification or detox. Detoxification is the recovery of your body from the physical dependencies of substance abuse in a supported and stabilized environment. Detox works by weaning your body off the harmful substances it depended upon to function while allowing for the restoration of healthy bodily function. Depending on the type of drug you are detoxing from, the length and frequency of use, and your general health status, the detox phase of recovery can last anywhere from 3 to 10 days. Detox is a vital step in the treatment process as one cannot fully immerse themselves successfully in a drug or alcohol addiction treatment program if they are still under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Detox and withdrawal symptoms vary from person to person. What to Expect When Entering a Medical Detox Facility in California

At our California medical detox facility, we provide full support and medical supervision throughout the detox process. Medically assisted detox occurs during the earliest and most challenging days of treatment. Once detox is complete, clients will transition to an addiction treatment program that includes therapy, addiction education, and support while working towards sobriety and recovery. As part of a medically assisted detox program at Casa Serena, you can expect:

An experienced clinical team will emotionally and physically support and guide you through the detox process.
Management of withdrawal is achieved through prescribed medication by our medical team of experts.
Throughout detox, medical staff continually monitor vitals (including blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and breathing) to ensure your ongoing comfort and safety.
