• Directly from your Retirement Account
    • Funds sent directly from your IRA to a charity are called a Qualified Charitable Distribution or QCD. You must be 70 ½ or older to be eligible to make a QCD.
    • Benefit to you: A QCD can be counted toward your current year’s required minimum distribution (RMD). An RMD is the amount that must be withdrawn from an IRA (traditional, SEP, etc.) each year once you turn 72. The IRS requires a certain percentage is withdrawn and that amount is taxed as ordinary income. QCDs will reduce the taxable amount of your RMD and they are generally more tax efficient than sending a check.
    • To make a donation via QCD you would need to directly transfer the funds from your IRA custodian to Casa Serena.
